“The purpose of this organization is to foster awareness of the social issues that condemn the environment in which our communities exist, while focusing on the male role against all stereotypes. M.O.D. aims to bridge the gap between the African American male and his community.”

 

Guidance

The work we do with mentoring young men is aimed at providing a holistic approach to strengthening male interactions.Through partnerships and donations as well as sponsors we are able to empower young men by creating opportunities for them within their own community.

 

Leadership

Everyone can be a leader, if they desire to do so. MOD believes whather you want to or not your always leading so we seek to poses your leadership skills to help you grow as an individual and to better your community as a collective.

How to Charter a Unit of Men of Definition, Inc.

Men of Definition, Inc. welcomes the establishment of community-based and collegiate units that align with our mission to develop principled men through Guidance, Leadership, and Community. The following steps outline the official process to charter a recognized unit.

Eligibility Requirements

Community Units

To charter a community-based unit, applicants must:

  • Have a minimum of five (5) active members

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Demonstrate commitment to community service, mentorship, and civic engagement

  • Identify a Unit President and Unit Secretary

  • Agree to uphold the national mission, policies, and bylaws

Collegiate Units

To charter a college/university-based unit, applicants must:

  • Have a minimum of five (5) currently enrolled students

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (or institutional standard)

  • Secure a Faculty/Staff Advisor in good standing with the institution

  • Receive institutional approval (if required by the campus)

  • Agree to comply with both Men of Definition, Inc. policies and campus regulations

Step-by-Step Chartering Process

Step 1: Submit a Charter Interest Request

Prospective units must submit an official Charter Interest Request through the Men of Definition website. This request signals intent and begins the review process.

Required information includes:

  • Proposed unit name and location

  • Community or collegiate designation

  • Primary contact person

  • Number of interested members

Step 2: Complete the Charter Application

Upon approval of the interest request, applicants will receive the official Charter Application Packet, which includes:

  • Charter Application Form

  • Proposed leadership roster

  • Membership interest list

  • Advisor information (for collegiate units)

  • Letter of intent outlining goals and planned initiatives

Step 3: Membership Verification & Dues Submission

All chartering members must:

  • Complete individual membership applications

  • Submit required local and national dues

Membership is not considered active until all documentation and dues are processed.

Step 4: Charter Review & Approval

The National Governing Board will review all submitted materials to ensure:

  • Alignment with organizational mission and values

  • Leadership readiness and sustainability

  • Compliance with national standards

Applicants may be contacted for clarification or an informational meeting.

Step 5: Charter Approval & Unit Recognition

Once approved, the unit will receive:

  • An Official Charter Certificate

  • Authorization to operate under the Men of Definition name and branding

  • Access to national resources, policies, and training materials

  • Inclusion in the National Unit Directory

Expectations of Chartered Units

All chartered units are expected to:

  • Host regular meetings and programming

  • Participate in community service and mentorship initiatives

  • Maintain active membership status and good standing

  • Submit annual reports and membership updates

  • Uphold the principles and reputation of Men of Definition, Inc.
